  • Convolvulaceae plants were frequently used in Byzantine ornamental art. This fresco depicts an arbor against a warm blue background The plant's ochre color, which ends in small touches of white, gives the impression of morning dew covering the trees' leaves. As you pass by, you can almost smell their freshness. This motif had been inspired by the frescoes of St. Panteleimon Church in Athens, Greece.
