CORAL REEFS

100 Centimeters
  • Shallow coral reefs, also known as "rainforests of the sea," are home to some of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Corals' constant presence in art is linked to the various meanings they have taken over time. Since ancient times, men have been fascinated by coral's triple nature, which connects the plant, animal, and mineral worlds, embodying the concepts of transformation, evolution, and regeneration. This motif honors coral reefs by placing them in the broadest context possible in order to raise awareness about the importance of ensuring their sustainability. The pattern is inpired by the frescoes of St. Andrew church, in Patras, Greece.
