The ground level of the old Maniot house has a unique and immersive character, thanks to its architecture and materials. Originally used as a stable, the space now features blackboards that, through augmented reality, transport visitors to the churches where the monumental paintings of Yannis Karoussos are located. It's an unforgettable experience combining history, art, and technology.

Abstract Expressionism

abstract6_edited.jpg

In the 1960s, most young artists went to Paris, Europe's cultural capital. However, Yannis Karoussos decided to explore the art scene of the United States. Abstract Expressionism influenced the artist and laid the groundwork for his significant shifts in orthodox monumental painting. The 60's room at the Karoussos Center showcases the painter's abstract work, as well as the blueprints of his mega-scale monumental artwork.

They are the first in the history of monumental art and are based on the legendary work of Yannis Karousos. They were created using an exclusive method pioneered by the Karousos Archives. Visit the chapel to see this magnificent work of art and the pioneering approach to preserving cultural heritage.
